Come Along for my Wellness Journey
My blogging goal is to help me with navigating this post cancer experience and finding health, wellness and purpose. Cancer really has a way of knocking you off your feet and trying to find your “normal” is just as complex and exhausting as treatment itself.
You spend so much time in treatment looking forward to finishing and get our life back, that at least for my experience I overlooked the fact that there will be many bumps on the road to recovery. Building my endurance and my energy back up has been tough and then finding out that my immunotherapy left me with hypothyroidism (fingers crossed this is only temporary).
I am working to accept that now my wellness and fitness looks very different from prior to cancer, even during treatment. I thought I could just jump back into workouts but my body abruptly showed me that it not happening! So my focus (stubbornly) has shifted to the small things, daily walks, mobility, yoga, and physical therapy. No, it has not been easy, especially with the weight gain caused by hypo and the frustration of not being able to find answers. But I need to just let go, and find ways to enjoy the journey and not just endure it. My body has gone through alot, and has been so strong during chemo, immunotherapy, and multiple surgeries. I owe her the grace she needs to recovery and rest and take it one day at a time.
I want to share this journey and hopefully it helps someone else that might be feeling a bit lost, although grateful to have had a successful outcome with early TNBC, but still working through the impacts and scars both physically and emotionally that have been left behind.
